Bridge Among Friends Virtual Tours

Add a new player to your group from the Group menu.  Enter player's email address, first name and last name.  Your player can log in immediately using their email address.  If the player is already a member of an existing group their password is not changed.  Passwords for new players are set to their first name, eg, Thomas.  Note - passwords are case sensitive.

Select Add a New Game under the Bridge Games menu to add a new game.

Enter a name for your game, select the date it will be played and the start time.  Select duplicate event to play with your partner, team event to play with your partner and another pair or individual event to play with and against any of the other players.

Select a convener if someone other than yourself.  You can alter the convener later if necessary on the bookings screen.

Click the Add button to add the game.

Book in a game of bridge under the Bridge Games menu, select Bridge Bookings and select a game from the drop down.  Alternatively, click on a game listed on the Bridge Games Coming Up screen.  If you can't find a game you know should be there, check that you're in the right group.

Book yourself into the game with or without a partner.  You can also make bookings for other players in the group on their behalf.

You can alter the order of the bookings by drag/dropping a team from the right hand side.  Try to place players with disabilities at the top.

Select Edit Games from the Bridge Games menu and select the game from the dropdown.  If the game isn't there check you are logged onto the right group. You can also get to it via the Edit Game button on the Bookings screen.

Select the scoring method, IMPs, Match Points, Butler Datum, Victory Points for teams or Chicago Russian for individual games, depending on the type of event and the number of tables. IMPs, Match Points and Butler Datum are only applicable for more than one table. For example select IMPs or Match Points for a duplicate game with more than one table.  Select Chicago Russian or Total Points for an individual game with one table. 

Select the movement. Bridge Among Friends knows the number of players booked into the game and how many tables there are.  The choice of movements depends on the number of tables.  For example for a duplicate  event with 4 tables, you can select a 3/4 Howell movement to play 18 or 24 boards or a perfect Howell movement to play 14 or 21 boards.  A duplicate event with 6 tables gives you a choice including a 5 round Skip Mitchell movement to play 20/25 boards or a 6 round relay Mitchell to play 18/24 boards. Each movement comes equipped with a diagram showing you the ideal layout and information about it.  Things to consider when selecting the movement are:

• The number of tables, size and shape of the room.
• Players with special needs, ie, preferences to sit or move.
• The total number of boards to be played.
• Number of boards per set depending on the number of rounds and whether there is a sitout, eg, play fewer boards per set when there is a sitout.
• No. of winners for the game, eg, Howell movements produce 1 winner, Michell movements produce 2 winners. Arrow Switched Mitchell movements with 1 out of 8 boards switched, produce 1 winner.

Finally, select the number of boards per set which determines how many boards you want to play.

As convener you can edit the game.  Add unexpected players and guests or remove players who haven't turned up in Bridge Bookings under Bridge Games menu.  On Edit Games screen, select the method of scoring cross IMPs, Match Points or Victory Points for a team game etc. 

Select the movement and enter the number of boards per set.  The movement diagram gives you an idea on how to set up the room.  Where there are shared boards, note the positions of tables sharing boards so that you can set up a side table between the tables. Some player movements may be displayed to give you the general idea about the movement.  Click on the Board Map button to give you a list of boards to be played on each table including boards to be shared by which tables.

Click on Start Play to start the game. Click on the Play button to take you to your own table.  All other players are taken directly to their tables.

A mistake has been made with a score that has been verified.  From the Edit Games screen, select the round, identify the table and click on the board in question.  You have three actions to choose from:

• Set Contract - adjust the contract and/or number of tricks made, declarer, whether the hand was doubled or redoubled etc.
• Reset - resets the board so that the players can re-enter their score.
• Average - Calculate an average board in the case of slow play

Click on Play which takes you to the table in the current game being played.  You can see which table you're on and where you are seated.

Click on the board as you play it.  It will be highlighted green, ready to score.

Select Contract 1 - 7 then the suit Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs or NT or Pass if the board was passed in.  Select x if the contract is doubled or xx if the contract was redoubled.

Select who is playing the contract North, South, East or West.

After the board has been played, select the number of tricks made, eg, select 10 tricks made for a 4 Spades contract making 4.

Specify the lead if you want to by selecting the suit then click on the card.

Ask your opponents to check and click on the Verify button to verify the final contract.

When all scores have been entered the results screen will be displayed.  The results are displayed for the convener only until he/she clicks on the Publish button.  Once published the results can be viewed by all players in the group.
